New lab publication on crime concentration

In December 2016 ILSSC faculty John Hipp and graduate student Young-an Kim had a journal article published in Journal of Quantitative Criminology entitled, “Measuring Crime Concentration across Cities of Varying Sizes: Complications Based on the Spatial and Temporal Scale Employed.” The article raises conceptual and methodological challenges to measuring the concentration of crime in cities.

New publication by graduate student Christopher Contreras

On December 25, 2016, ILSSC graduate student Christopher Contreras had a journal article published inĀ Justice Quarterly entitled, “A Block-Level Analysis of Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and Crime in the City of Los Angeles.” The article featured research Christopher Contreras conducted for his 2nd-year project in the department of Criminology, Law and Society.
